I'm starting to put my roots down

A video! Post-Records emailed us recently, thus we had the chance to listen to great music. Honestly, they put out some amazing songs. Have a listen here. Buy something from them, enjoy the AMAZING video, or the song. The video was directed by Benjamin M Piety. Check out the other music videos, also. Talk about plugs, eh?

Freebies

It's really simple to update this blog. I mean this literally too: a few clicks and a few words and a few people read the blog! But what to attribute to the (not so) recent lack of updation on our part? Jon's got papers up the ass, my curling team is doing well this year and I've recently had a bit of late-night school work rushing. Onwards, Russia!

A Swedish band, by the name of "David & The Citizens" are really good, truly. Their EP, "Are you in my blood?" has all that fun and pop stuff the kids are cheering about these days. Behold, the myspace. Just listen to the title track; it gives you all the happiness that went missing. There's a video on their lamespace too.

Hopefully Jay can see, by example, how to properly post a picture.

Procrastination

In the spirit of Procrastination...I have a Philosophy essay on Hume and a politics paper on the North-South Divide, I am going to make the first post in a long time!

Alela Diane is a little folk artist from Portland Oregon who was discovered by another love of mine, Joanne Newson. Just listen to this little number and I'm sure you will fall in love with her as well.

Oh my kids do enjoy this.

Absent

I think i need to giv ean explanation for my recent lack of posts. I have been very busy with Papers and Finals are just around the corner. Please don't lose faith in this blog, this is just a busy time for me. Hopefully Jason and Thom can pick up the slack.

Check out Jay's music project here: http://www.myspace.com/hermajestysmarionette

Add him because he has a shitty mic and still manages to kick ass.

This is the story of the boys who loved you!

And I'm sure all the boys[and girls there] were in love, for sure.
The Decemberists were outstanding.
After a risky journey out of country we ended up at Clutch Cargos and the shock of finally seeing a man I completely admire overwhelmed me. We bought some shirts and went searching for a good spot. We listened to the opening act, Allister Roberts, who were very good Scottish/Folk music. After finding places very close to the stage we stood around anticipating the arrival of dare I say, the best band EVER?
The announcement instructed us to greet the people around us and then welcomed the Decemberists. They took to the stage to a mass of applause and opened with the Crane Wife #3. They varied between their new stuff, The perfect Crime #2, The dark Shankill Butchers, An amazing performance of The Island, a breathtaking O, Valencia(which John has video of beneath) and got the crowd singing on election day to-Sons & Daughers. They played a few songs from Picaresque and even playing a rowdy July, July from Castaways and Cut-outs. They closed the set with A Cautionary Song, bringing members of the band to the floor to act out the execution of Anne Bolin. When they left the stage everyone remained right where they were, screaming and clapping until Colin emerged, picking into a fantastic Red Right Ankle I was blown away. Their encore was incredible and the whole show was overwhelming. I highly suggest you go see them if they come by your area, go out of your way if you must because they really put on an amazing live show.

The new Shins record

..isn't their best cd. It's full of great catchy pop-rock songs that remind the listener of the 60's, but I prefer Oh, Inverted World (upon 2 listenings). I'll update the status qoue on my love or distaste for this record, however currently--7/10.

Put On Your Headphones, Go Ahead, Disappear

Hi.
I was in hiatus. This can be attributed to the fact that I caught on ...Fire!
If you are driving home, late at night from a great party and you just wish to calm down and sing your lungs out...then I suggest you listen to this band. They have no website so I must direct link to myspace again, but it's totally worth it. Add them. Listen to them. And love them like I do. Pianos/Synth driven songs with incredible lyrics and outstanding vocals[with female accompaniment]. I can't explain how amazing this band is.

This song has been stuck in my head for about two weeks.
...Fire!- It's All under Control
This is what it takes to see:
...Fire!- Zero Hour(No Bombs In Sight)
It's indie, electronic pop, and they just Hope you will like it
And so do I
